I’ve been drinking Gin Tonic for many years (no drinking age in Uruguay at my time), but the Gin Tonic I recently ordered at my favorite Colombian hotel, was something out of this world.
The hotel is a relatively new hotel in the heart of the financial district in Bogota. It is called the Artisan DC Hotel, and is part of the Marriott Autograph hotel chain. Like all Autograph’s hotels, the décor and ambience is modern, chic, and each hotel has its own style. This one doesn’t disappoint, and in fact is probably the best one I’ve been at, but this blog is about the drink.
Next to the lobby of the hotel, sits The Cooper Lounge Bar, and its signature drink is The Cooper
So what is The Cooper? It’s a Gin Tonic, and I think I had it with Tanqueray Ten. The barman also embellishes the drink with dehydrated citric skins, and then they smoke with whole drink with cedar. It’s amazing to see it made, amazing how the glass and the cylindrical cover gets filled up with smoke, and amazing how it tastes. The taste of the gin mixed with the aromas of lemon, tangerine, and orange skins, all smoked in cedar is brilliant. For you to understand the beauty of this drink, you have to watch this video, and see the pictures. And next time you go to Bogota, it’s a must stop. You have to taste it!
