Apple recently set an excellent example of how to reinvest company profit. The Californian company has made a clear decision to invest in renewable energy by announcing an investment of 850 million dollars to construct a solar energy plant which would allow it to create its own energy supply.
The news of its solar energy investment doesn’t stop at only building the plant. The company has also announced it intends to invest 2 billion dollars to convert an abandoned glass factory into a data storage center (also supplied with solar energy).
In addition to guaranteeing an inexpensive energy supply for its facilities, with this move, Apple has made a strong statement about its support for renewable energy. We also heard this a few weeks back from the company’s CEO, Tim Cook when he said, “at Apple we know climate change is real”.
Impact on the Stock Market
For those who were skeptical about the impact of Apple’s latest investments on the stock market: following the announcement of its solar energy investment, the value of the company’s shares rose. It is also forecast to enjoy considerable energy savings over the long term. This makes Apple’s investment a very intelligent move.
